EBay dan Paypal Digugat 3,8 Miliar Dollar
EBay Inc, situs perdagangan online ternama di Amerika Serikat, dan PayPal Inc digugat sebesar 3,8 miliar dollar AS. Kedua situs tersebut dituding telah melanggar hak paten XPRT Ventures LLC terkait sistem pembayaran perdagangan online (e-commerce). XPRT, perusahaan yang berbasis di Greenwich, Connecticut, telah memasukkan gugatan itu ke Pengadilan Distrik Wilmington, Delaware.
Dalam gugatannya, XPRT menuding EBay melanggar enam hak paten bagi pembayaran online. Selain itu, situs tersebut juga dituduh telah membocorkan rahasia perdagangan dengan cara membagikan informasi aplikasi paten. XPRT menganggap tindakan EBay tersebut tidak fair. Mereka menganggap EBay telah mencuri ide dan metode pembayaran yang mereka temukan.
